We are often asked for advice in the keeping of animals and reptiles.

Q: How do l stop my animals from escaping?

A: We find that the best results for this problem are for keepers' to practice 'safe controlled release protocol' - in other words to prevent escape

Leave the enclosure open. This is a controlled release.

[Recently an escaped Porcupine was caught in Oxfordshire, we believe this was part of Controlled Release Programme]

Q: My Rat keeps biting me, every time l pick him up and put my fingers in front of his mouth, he bites me hard, how do l stop this please?

A: We have found this to be a problem experienced by keepers from their animals. We strongly advise the following action: 'Stop putting your fingers in front of his mouth when handling him'

Q: My Cheetah keeps chasing me like he is hunting me, how can l stop it? It usually occurs just before feeding time?

A: Advise strongly that you desisit from playtime so close to feeding time.

Q: Is there a 'vegetarian snake?'

A: Mmm, interesting question, perhaps it should have read is there a Vegan snake? Vegetarians eat eggs, vegans do not!  But the purpose of the question posed here was in the gist of 'snakes should not eat meat'.

So, working on that premsie, all snakes are carnivorous [in the main] and it forms part of their staple diet. Advice here is if you do not have the stomach for what an animal eats perhaps it is not the best choice for you. ToysRUs do a range of softy toys, and l believe snakes are also present in the range, maybe . ?
